Timeouts are lightning-quick interviews. Five questions to help you get to know the players holding court at Dribbble. Many thanks to Katie and Nathan for being today’s interviewee.

Who are you? Let us know where you hail from and what you do.

Eight Hour DayKatie Kirk & Nathan Strandberg of Eight Hour Day hailing from San Francisco, California. We do design, illustration, branding, packaging and interactive.

What are you working on?

Lots of fun stuff including some branding projects and a set of children’s building blocks.

Choose a favorite shot of yours. Why is it a favorite?

I would say our very first shot, Cheers! We had been hearing a lot about Dribbble, however, because we had been traveling we hadn’t had the time to really explore it or get involved. When we finally threw up our first shot we were overwhelmed at the response and the awesomeness of the community.

A little holiday illustration. Playing around with some vintage grain here and there. Felt right for the subject matter...

Tell us about your setup. What tools did you use to create the shot(s)? (e.g. hardware, software, pens, paper, blowtorch, etc.)

Nothing as fun as a blowtorch! We use the usual suspects, sketchbooks, pens, pencils, etc. We both only have our laptops as our main computer—we really like the ability to be mobile and work from anywhere our hearts and feet take us.

Choose a favorite shot from another Player. Why do you dig it?

We’re both going to go with two San Francisco lads…

We love their vintage modern illustration style. They’re killin’ it—plus they are both super nice people.
