The best partnerships are those that come about by talking to friendly people who happen to work at companies you admire and make products you actually use. Such is the case with Shopify, our friends that make killer software for creating your own online store. We’ve been happily using it to power our own Equipment Shop for years, and it’s made adding physical products to our repertoire dead simple.
Shopify also understands the importance of design in their products as well as the important role the design community plays in creating beautiful storefronts:
- They sponsored our first ever meetup here at Dribbble HQ back in 2012.
- Shopify’s Community Development Manager, Arati Sharma, has manged to make Toronto Dribbble’s largest meetup community.
- Shopify is one of Dribbble’s largest design teams.
Can someone say, synergy? No, please don’t! There has to be a non Ha Ha Business way of describing mutual admiration between two companies. We’re still on the lookout for that term.
So, it was serendipitous when conversations with Shopify’s Chief Platform Officer, Harley Finkelstein led to a partnership we’re thrilled to be announcing today: Shopify will be Dribbble’s Official Global Meetup Sponsor in 2014.
What does that mean? It means Shopify will be helping us foster and grow the amazing meetup community that has evolved out of our virtual network of designers and creative folks. Dribbble Meetups (hundreds of them worldwide) have become one of the most satisfying aspects of the business for us—helping designers connect with each other in person.
