Without You, We’d Never Know About …

  • image The Brewer’s Star. Traditionally, European and, later, American brewers put a six-pointed star on their keg ends. The origins of its use aren’t known, but the hexagram has been associated with beer since the 14th century. The points are often interpreted to represent six aspects of brewing: water, hops, grain, malt, yeast, and the brewer. While exploring branding options for Kinfolk Brewery, Brian Steely created a potential mark by combining the brewer’s star with a banjo.

Meetup Wrap-up

Sunnyvale, California, Wednesday, April 30

More than 300 of you turned out and up at Yahoo HQ for our Meetup. In addition to hoops, drinks and mingling, the event featured a great set of speakers: ShopSavvy Creative Director Jeff Broderick, Flickr design lead Andy Law, Facebook designer Danny Jones, and Palantir designer Nick Slater. Dan was stoked to meet so many happy Dribbblers, and enjoyed chatting about our in-the-works API, Yahoo’s design mojo, and where he goes to find great designers. (“There’s a site called Dribbble … .”)

Thanks to Meetup host Yahoo and our global Meetup sponsor Shopify. Thanks to everyone who came out — attendees and speakers. Thanks to the Yahoo Design Team, including Creative Director Shali Nguyen. Thank you to Travis Neilson of DevTips for the amazing video. For pictures, check out the Meetup’s Flickr stream.
