Who are you?

Hi, my name is Alexander Zaytsev and I am a designer from Russia, Saint Petersburg. This is the second year I am doing freelance, and currently it focuses around mobile apps. According to my education I should be a director of multimedia projects, and I honestly have spent not a lot of time on this, I mean not a single day.

Thanks to freelancing I am able to travel wherever I want to, and not to be married to one place. Now I’m answering these question from Lithuania, Vilnius.

What are you working on?

I am always trying to work on one project at a time.

Now I’m busy with a big sport theme app, you understand that I can’t share more details. Also I have a personal project I am working at during my free time - it’s Walle App. It manages your incomes and expenses and I’m planning to release it this year.

I am never truly satisfied with my works, but let’s try this one - Icon for secret Japanese App.

I like it because it took me no longer than 5 minutes to go from idea to created object. Also I think it has a proper mood. And I got nice feedback from the Dribbble community.

Tell us about your setup.

I’ve just moved to a new city and honestly I haven’t got free time yet to buy even a table. For my work I use Macbook Pro 15” with Retina display - it fits perfectly my work needs within mobile apps. I am a big fan of the Apple (who is not?), but the mouse is not my favorite piece of gadgetry, that’s why I’m using the Logitech G602. Software is quite usual - Photoshop, Sketch and Skala Preview.

Now I’m trying to use Sketch for all my works, it’s a great app.

It’s quite hard, guys. I am inspired by many designers from here. But since I have a passion for dark interfaces, I choose this work by Jeremiah Shaw - In-app Visual Data. Looking at this work, you want to change not a single detail, be it color, icons, textures. Everything is created to be a part of each other. Amazing harmony and attention to the details.
