February Meetup Wrap-up

February saw 16 Dribbble meetups in 9 countries. More than 1,000 of you attended — wow! There are still 13 meetups left this month. Go to Dribbble.com/meetups and find out if there’s one in your neighborhood. If not, organize one!

Lyon, France @ Le Café Cousu

Inaugural Lyon Meetup! Hardcore Lyon braved the snow to gather around a cozy little table during happy hour at Le Café Cousu. Organizer and meetup shot designer Ev Henke is already brainstorming about the next event, so keep your eyes on the meetup calendar.

Sofia, Bulgaria @ Betacafe

Thanks to Martin Bonov and Kickflip for bringing Sofia Dribbblers together for what might be the first-ever traveling meetup. The group first gathered at Betacafe for some brainstorming about future events, then moved to a nearby restaurant for dinner and socializing. Next up for Sofia? Meetup at Eleven on March 17. RSVP.

Washington, DC @ Canvas Co/work

“The greatest creative minds in DC … at it again!” So tweeted DC Dribbble organizer Martin Ringlein re: the February Meetup. DC Dribbblers are making this a regular thing! The folks from Gannett Digital shared what they’ve been designing and developing for Oculus, and everyone else enjoyed the space (thanks, Canvas!), the snacks, the swill, the swag, and the music. Atlanta, Georgia @ Campus Bubble

Repeat meetup host Campus Bubble invited Atlanta Dribbblers into its HQ for beer, pizza and Ping-pong. Super-sketchers competed in an Analog Playoff, drawing inspiration from Valentine’s Day. Thanks to Liz Lara for organizing and to Julian Strayhorn II for the meetup shot.

Melbourne, Australia @ Redbubble

Dribbble in the Houzz! Thank you, thank you Houzz for welcoming us into yours, to Jenny Hong for organizing, and to Andrew Lee for the chairy lovely meetup shot. New York, New York @ General Assembly

Dribbblers, Assemble! Thank you, General Assembly, for inviting us into your NYC West campus for a temporary respite from all the shoveling. From organizer E. James McLaughlin: “We really enjoyed hosting the Dribbble community at our General Assembly NYC West campus. We met talented designers working on everything from independent games to smart watches. Dublin, Ireland @ Against the Grain

Dublin Dribbblers gave new meaning to “good times” when they raised more than 100 Euros for the Irish Cancer Society. Teams paid a small fee to compete in the inaugural Dribbble Dublin charity table quiz. Sample questions: Who designed the old Irish 10-pound note? In “The Wire,” what band was playing as McNulty crashed his car? Visit shanemoloney.ie for answers, plus the full quiz. Congratulations to the winning team, Tragic Sans. Inaugural Lahore Meetup! Big thank you Abdus Salam for gathering the Lahore Dribbble community. From Abdus: “Khurram Siddiqi, Creative Director at Shopistan, shared some of the design processes involved at Shopistan and Woop.pk. Ujala Qasim, Lead Product Designer at PakWheels and previously Web UI/UX Designer for Olaround, shared some tips and tricks from her expertise for the web and mobile components of PakWheels. I, Abdus Salam, highlighted some of the design processes and challenges I faced while setting up the online presence for Information Technology University!” The group is already working on the next meetup, so keep your eyes on the meetup calendar.
