Who are you? Let us know where you hail from and what you do.

I’m Alison Harshbarger and I’m Assistant Coach at Dribbble—which is a fancy way of saying I work with Dribbble community members on support and meetups. I live in Austin, TX now, but grew up in North Carolina.

What are you working on?

A bunch of different things! Helping community members with issues they have on the site, writing help documentation, helping meetup organizers put on awesome Dribbble meetups, learning GitHub and merging pull requests, and much more!

Tell us about your setup. What tools do you use in your job at Dribbble (e.g. hardware, software, pens, paper, blowtorch)?

I work from home and use a 13 inch Macbook Pro. Other things I like having around include a BigJambox, iced coffee, and a pen and notebook. I also have a lot of Dribbble swag (yoyos, notebooks, and pencils, oh my!) at my desk left over from various meetups.

I’m choosing three, boom.

White Sands for Adobe

White Sands for Adobe

by shawna x

Adobe asked me to visit White Sands, NM to be inspired & create a piece of art from my experience. This is what I made. Watch the video here: http://adobe.ly/1L3ZMRz

I love all of Shawna X’s work—so it was hard to choose just one shot. I chose White Sands because I love the colors and loved hearing the story behind it in the video she did for Adobe. I always get excited when I see she’s posted a new shot because I know it will be unique.

I was drawn to Emily Okada’s shot simply because I love the colors and shapes, but then I read the backstory behind the project and fell in love with her work even more! Striped Shirts is part of a project called Every Little Everything. Emily and fellow artist, Corey Vaughn, are documenting every single one of their possessions. “Anything left undocumented after 11:59 p.m on December 31st, 2015 must be donated, sold or disposed of.” Check out the website to learn more!

I am such a big fan of Garrett DeRossett’s work! His style is really reflected in every shot he posts. He does a lot of art for musicians, and I think his shot, 05082015, is an exploration for album art. He announced that he got a new job at Charity Water recently, so I’m excited to see the work he does for them! And what do you know, he’s got a Timeout coming up. Check back on the blog next week to learn more about Garrett.

How did you get to Dribbble?

When I was in the Elon iMedia Master’s program, I attended Converge SE in 2012. During Kyle Steed’s inspiring presentation, he mentioned using Dribbble and to come up and see him after his talk if you needed an invite. I did just that! It wasn’t until a couple years later that I started working with the awesome Dribbble team. In my interview process, I got together with Dan at the SXSW ATX Dribbble Meetup 2015 and then we talked more over tacos and coffee at Radio in Austin. After a few more phone meetings with Rich and Dan, including a support exercise, I got the job!
